Very good article! We need to talk more about our automatic reactions and how we overestimate reason and rationality to explain our actions.

Fascinating and true. Recently saw a PBS special on body language and learned that more than 85% of all communication is non-verbal.

Reminds me a little of one of the Four Agreements: Don't Take Anything Personally. When I remember to practice that, I stop listening to the din in my head (which tends to make courageous conversations a whole lot easier) and listen instead to the pure information the people are sharing whether they're speaking or not.

Lois,

You are off the hook! That other woman is a deep opener and ending. Thank you for continuing to inspire me to focus on the possibilities and not the present!!!

"People who live at their best"...a wonderful phrase capturing what so many of us aspire to. Those childrens' life-affirming statements call out to adults to offer examples of living at our best, not surrendering our souls and vision to those easy binary short-cuts but welcoming the "both/and" of living with paradox. Words like Lois's give us much-needed fuel.

I think a lot of these are challenges for large companies and will require a total change of culture to make it happen! Very tricky for them when you have small emerging companies that already display these values by default!

One of the pitfalls of Social Media for a company is that it totally opens up your company to the outside world - customers will be able to tell if you're 'faking' your Social prowess quite easily. It's going to be interesting to see which companies create a credible Social brand, and therefore succeed in the Social marketplace over the next few years.

I would add one. Bad rebels tend to be loners. Good rebels find others who share their views.
